Parents cannot sleep for more than five hours until a child is one year old.

Researchers at Durham University's Infancy and Sleep Center have come up with a way to keep the nervous system in good shape and put the baby to sleep. They advised the parents to calm down before putting the child to bed. Scientists warn that no baby will sleep from sunset to dawn.

Institutions from different countries issue special explanatory leaflets for young parents and their problems. But much research on baby sleep has been done in the 1950s and 1960s. Therefore, it is necessary to find new and practical advice.

"It is important to understand that it is normal for a child to have unstable sleep. Then parents can realize that they are not to blame in this situation," said Professor Helen Bal.

Parents should avoid short naps too often during childcare. It is much better to stay awake all day than to sleep like this. Scientists say that in the first year of a child's life, parents can not sleep more than five hours.
