China has unveiled a list of the top 10 scientific achievements in the country and the world for 2021, selected by members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Standard.kz reports citing Xinhua News Agency.

Academics from CAS and CAE hold China's highest national academic titles in science and technology. Among these scientific achievements, China's progress in fulfilling its advanced task of exploring the solar system stands out.

The list included:

successful landing of the Tianwen-1 probe on Mars,
successful launch of the main module of the Chinese space station Tianhe,
successful launch and docking of the Shenzhou-12 and Shenzhou-13 manned spacecraft with the above module,
artificial synthesis of starch from carbon dioxide,
unraveling the mystery of the evolution of the moon through the analysis of lunar samples delivered to Earth by the Chang'e-5 spacecraft,
identification of the mechanism of avoidance of SARS-CoV-2 from antiviral drugs,
detection of a record number of fast radio bursts using a spherical radio telescope with a five-hundred-meter aperture FAST,
scalable production of high-performance fiber lithium-ion batteries,
quantum walks using a 62-qubit programmable superconducting quantum processor,
a soft self-powered robot tested in the Mariana Trench.
