Authorities in the city of Nur-Sultan provide financial assistance to some residents in difficult situations.
According to the rules approved by the maslikhat, there are several reasons to consider a person in a difficult situation.
For example, if a citizen or his property is affected by a natural disaster or fire. Or if a person has a socially significant disease (such as tuberculosis) or has a low income.
If there is a fire
There are cash benefits for citizens affected by natural disasters or fires:
if the only house burns down - 65 MCI per family (about 199 thousand tenge in 2022);
if one of the family members dies, the deceased - 15 MCI (about 46 thousand tenge).
In case of illness
Social assistance is also provided to Astana residents living with tuberculosis, cancer or HIV.
A patient with tuberculosis, registered and receiving outpatient treatment is paid 10 MCI (30 630 tenge) per month.
Children under 18 years of age with HIV and cancer are provided with 25 MCI (76,575 tenge) per month.
People over the age of 18 living with HIV receive a quarterly (ie once every three months) cash payment of 5 MCI (15,315 tenge).
Treatment and rest
Other categories of citizens are also entitled to social assistance. For example, veterans, the disabled, retirees, low-income and mothers with many children, families with children with disabilities are provided with free dental prosthetics.
Veterans and participants in the events of December 1986, who were recognized as victims of political repressions, can go to a sanatorium once a year for two weeks free of charge.
Retirees can also pay 35% of the cost of the trip and receive treatment at the sanatorium. Labor veterans and retirees receiving the minimum pension (46,302 tenge in 2022) will pay 25% of the cost of the trip.
Veterans (and those equated to them) are provided with free medicine, help pay for utilities, tickets to concerts and matches. It also helps those who took part in the events of December 1986 to pay for utilities.
