Water potential in our country depends on neighboring countries

This was announced by Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serik Kozhaniyazov at the Central Communications Service.

The Vice Minister told about the current state of water resources, the development of the water sector and preparations for the upcoming growing season.

As you know, Kazakhstan is located in a dangerous agricultural zone and is exposed to a dry climate. The country's water potential largely depends on water from neighboring countries. Last year was not easy for the water industry. In general, thanks to timely measures and the rational work of water specialists, the growing season of 2021 ended without much loss, he said.

In addition, the ministry began preparations for the upcoming growing season in November 2021. The work plan of EGTRM for the growing and inter-vegetative periods for 2021-2022 was developed and approved.

Given the current state of water management, the forthcoming growing season is expected to be difficult in the southern region. The most difficult situation is expected in the Aral-Syrdarya basin. The Ministry of Ecology will continue working with Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to provide additional drainage from the Toktogul and Bahri Tochik reservoirs, as well as to ensure the planned volume of water flows along the Shu and Talas rivers, S. Kozhaniyazov said.
