Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this at a joint meeting of the chambers of parliament, Standard.kz reported.

“The Abay region will be created with the center in the city of Semey,” the president said.

He also noted that the Ulytau region is being created with the administrative center in Zhezkazgan.

“Almaty region will be divided into two - Zhetysu and Almaty. Kapshagay will become the center of the Almaty region, Taldykorgan - Zhetysu."
