Ministry of Ecology: Kazakhstan will have a single operator for work on waste collection

A single operator for work on waste collection will appear in Kazakhstan. This was announced by the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev, Standard.kz reports.

"In the period from 2016 to the present, the amount of funds received in the form of a utilization payment amounted to 691.9 billion tenge. The funds received are spent in strict accordance with the current legislation of Kazakhstan. In particular, the funds previously paid to them in the form of a utilization payment in in the amount of 338.9 billion tenge, 102 billion tenge was allocated to address environmental issues and 49.1 billion tenge in taxes," the minister said during a government meeting.

The rest of the funds, according to the head of the department, is in second-tier banks and amounts to 220.6 billion tenge. As Brekeshev emphasized, the department will work out the issue of creating a separate state operator.

"The ministry, together with representatives of the public, business and government agencies, will work out the issue of creating a separate state operator or on the basis of an industrial development fund, revising the utilization rate, as well as providing vouchers to buyers of domestic vehicles and agricultural machinery," Brekeshev added.
