Despite the fact that the state of emergency in Almaty has been lifted, the checkpoints set up at the entrances to the city continue to function. This is due to the fact that the "red" level of terrorist threat is still maintained, Standard.kz reports with reference to Zakon.kz.
Five stationary checkpoints deployed along the perimeter of Almaty have been operating since January 8. More than 170 servicemen of the Armed Forces are on duty together with the police, and military equipment has been installed. They conduct random vehicle inspections.
Checkpoints have been set up in the village of Guldala, the Duman microdistrict, at the intersection of Zhandosova and Karernaya streets, in the area of the Ecopost of the traffic police (Kapshagai highway) and on Raiymbek Avenue in the area of the Altyn Orda market.
Earlier, the City Operational Headquarters for Combating Terrorism said that the checkpoints work as part of anti-terrorist measures.
The department was asked to treat the work of law enforcement agencies with understanding and follow the legal requirements of their representatives.
